Rules & Prizes

All you have to do is predict the outcome of each match in the FIFA World Cup 2022. Plus answer some bonus questions to win prizes! 

In group stage, there will be 3 options to choose from - Team A, Team B and Draw. Based on the actual match result, and the predictions made, the winners will be determined.


HOW IT WORKS : 

For example, in Qatar vs Senegal match, there are total 20 votes/predictions captured before match start.

  • 15 votes for Senegal win
  • 2 votes for Qatar win 
  • 3 votes for Draw. 

Total bet amount is 20*100=2000 

3%, i.e. 60 goes to the House fund (Explained below). 

The result of the match comes out as Draw. 3 members who voted for Draw get 1940 split between them. Winning amount for those 3 members is captured for that match as = 646.66.

This way the winnings and prediction results are captured and maintained for each member and a Prediction League will be formed.

At the end of the tournament (Please check Funds section below), the total winnings are paid off to the respective members.

Also there are bonus awards as described below.

Please Note :

  • Knockout stage format will be updated in the middle of group stage.
  • An MS Excel will be maintained for the fund calculations and the league table of members based on predictions made. 
  • A snapshot of the league table will be shared after each matchday. Some of the busy days we may well see that after a certain match!
  • All 3 options for match outcome have equal weightage, and the predictors of the correct outcome will be the winners. 
  • For multiple winners, the total pot will be equally divided. 
  • In an unlikely event if any match is abandoned (rare), all funds will be returned back to the members who had predicted. FIFA may give any verdict, this is different to 'Draw' and will be considered as 'No Result'.
  • Prediction Poll will be locked 30 mins before the match starts. Everyone can view the final prediction list.
  • There is no mandate to predict for every match. If anyone wants to skip or is unable to predict a match, no funds will be deducted from that member for that match.
  • There will be one bonus question for each match in group stage, 2 for all knockout matches and 3 for the finals. Only those who have made a prediction for the match, can participate in the bonus question. It's not mandatory to participate in bonus questions if you have participated in the match. 


TELEGRAM: 

The predictions for each match will be captured through votes in Polls in Telegram app.

The app maybe new to some people, so few points to note: 

  • The poll will be in quiz mode. Which means you cannot retract your vote once given. So choose wisely, and click on an option only when you are absolutely sure. Once your prediction is recorded, it cannot be changed, and your fund will be allocated for that match. 
  • We advise that you familiarize yourself with the poll feature. There will be some polls posted on the Telegram group before the start of the World Cup.
  • Note that in the poll, it will show one option as right and one option as wrong. Please ignore that since the poll is created in quiz mode to avoid vote retraction. 
  • Lookout for the 'Pinned' messages for important announcements and information. 
  • Make sure your notification is on for the Telegram group. 
  • Let's try to keep the conversations in the Telegram group limited to football related discussions. 


FUND & REGISTRATION: 

  • The FIFA World Cup 2022 Prediction competition will be for 30 members on a first come first serve basis. 
  • Initial registration fund of 1600 INR to be deposited. Out of this, 1500 INR would be available to participate in the game. 100 INR would be deposited in the House fund (detailed below). 
  • Payment to be done using Google Pay to phone number - 9999662862. Payment details shared on the Telegram group as well. 
  • Anyone can join in between the tournament (*Conditions apply). Registration will be 1600 INR, which will be the initial fund for the predictions. However he/she can predict a match only after 2 hours of registration. 
  • Members have to predict the world cup winner while registering. This is for one of the awards. 

Fund allocated for prediction for each match will be : 

  • Group Stage - 100 for match outcome + 50 for 1 optional bonus question 
  • Round of 16 - 200 for match outcome + 50 each for 2 optional bonus questions 
  • Quarter Final - 300 for match outcome + 50 each for 2 optional bonus questions
  • Semi Final - 400 for match outcome + 50 each for 2 optional bonus questions
  • 3rd place play-off - 400 for match outcome + 50 each for 2 optional bonus questions
  • Final - 500 for match outcome + 100 each for 3 optional bonus questions

  • If there is no balance fund for a player, the prediction for that player for the match would not be counted. 
  • If the initial fund is exhausted, members can replenish their fund. Fund replenishment can be done only 5 more times for each member. There is no limit for the fund to be added on each occasion but has to be minimum 1000 with a multiple of 100.
  • At the end of the Group Stage the balance fund can be given back to the members if they want to withdraw or will be rolled over for knockout stages.
  • All members have to wait till the end of Group Stage to get their balance fund. They cannot withdraw before the end of the Group Stage. Post group stage, funds would be settled at the end of the tournament. No Partial withdrawal allowed. 


HOUSE FUND : 

This fund, accumulated throughout the course of the tournament, will be used to distribute awards at the end of the tournament.

  • Technically, House is an entity apart from the registered members. 
  • INR 100 per member received from each participant upon registration is added to the House fund. 
  • Every match, 3% of total bet (Result + Bonus) will be added to the House fund and rest will be available to be claimed in winnings.
  • For instance, in a match, 15 members vote on match outcome and 10 vote on bonus question. So total fund for the match becomes 15 * 100 + 10 * 50 = 1500  + 500 = 2000. 3% of 2000, 60 will be transferred to the House fund and 1940 will be available to be claimed in the form of winnings. All figures are in INR.
  • In a match, if there are no winners, the total pot amount goes to the House fund. 
  • For instance, in Portugal vs Korea match, 15 members predict that Portugal will win the match and 0 predict for Draw or Korea victory. If Korea wins/draws the match, the fund for the match will go to the House fund. 


AWARDS 

(To be decided post World Cup final and be available for those who register till the group stage is not over. People registering during knockouts are not eligible for awards): 

  1. Astrologer Award : This is for the most accurate predictor. One needs to make at least 32 predictions (Match Outcome polls) to be eligible for this award. At the end of the tournament, 20% of the House fund is won by the players winning this award. Prediction % will be calculated on match outcome predictions. If you have not made a prediction, the match does not contribute to the %. 
  2. The Hardworker : This is for the most predictions made. One with the highest number of predictions (Match outcome) wins this. 10% of the House fund is won by the players winning this award. 
  3. Bull's Eye : One with the highest number of correct predictions (Match outcome) wins this. 10% of the House fund is won by the players winning this award. 
  4. Blind Spot : One with the highest number of incorrect predictions (Match outcome) wins this. 5% of the House fund is won by the players winning this award. 
  5. Paul the Octopus : Ones predicting the World Cup winner at the time of registration. 10% of the House fund is won by the players winning this award. 
  6. Charity Award : Ones with the highest Loss (Match outcome) wins this. 5% of the House fund is won by the players winning this award. 
  7. Ballsy Award/Steal Win : This applies only to match results and not bonuses. The victor with the least odds in their favor for any match wins this award. 10% of the House fund is allocated to this award. For ex: 
    • In M1: France vs Tunisia match, there are total 20 votes, 17 votes for France, 1 vote for Tunisia and 2 votes for Draw. The match ends in Draw. 2 people who voted for Draw would have odds of 2/20.  
    • In M2: England vs Iran, out of 20 votes, 19 votes for England, 1 vote for Tunisia. The match is won by Tunisia. The victor would have the odds of 1/20.
    • The victor from England vs Iran match wins this award. 
  8. Predict Golden Boot - To be initiated at the end of the group stage. 10% of the House fund is distributed amongst the players predicting correctly. 
  9. Predict Golden Ball - To be initiated at the end of the group stage. 10% of the House fund is distributed amongst the players predicting correctly. 
  10. Predict Golden Glove -To be initiated at the end of the group stage. 10% of the House fund is distributed amongst the players predicting correctly. 
       * If no winner is derived in any category, then the fund is recirculated in House Fund.


ORGANISING FEES: 

As you must have noted so far, any deductions (upon registration or match bets) are distributed back to the players in the form of an award, you must be wondering what's in it for us!

  Yet again, another successful edition of SYTM prediction games. And this time the tournament bedazzled us, more than anyone.
